The White House acted behind the scenes to stop legislation intended to bring new sanctions on the Assad regime, according to the Washington Post.
According to the report, the American Democratic party answered to pressure from the White House last week and pulled its support from a bi-partisan law whose goal was to impose sanctions on the Assad regime for war crimes against Syrian residents.
