Syria's armed forces announced a seven-day "freeze" on military operations Monday evening, just moments after a truce brokered by Russia and the United States came into effect, according to Agence France Presse.
In a statement broadcast on state television, the army said its freeze would last until midnight Sunday "in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic".
