The Ministerial Committee on Legislation endorsed, Tuesday, a proposal by Treasurer Moshe Kahlon to regulate credit unions and financial gemachs (charitable free-loan funds).
The proposal is intended to open up competition in the retail credit market. Supervision over the credit unions and charitable free-loan funds will be handled by a new Capital Market Authority.
