The Environmental Protection Ministry's latest biweekly Hof Naki (Clean Beach) index showed a little decline compared to the past inspection period. 47.4 percent of the 66 stretches of shore inspected by ministry were rated clean to very clean, compared to 48.5 percent in the last reporting period. It's still better than the 29 percent reported this time last year.
The local authorities with the cleanest beaches were Eilat, Bat Yam, Herzliya and Tel Aviv. The dirtiest were Gan Raveh, Jaysar Az-Zarka and Nahariya.
