An anonymous United States defense official confirmed, late Wednesday, that four Iranian boats came close to an American warship in international waters of the Strait of Hormuz, Wednesday.
The official said the vessels approached the the guided missile destroyer USS Nitze at high speed in an unsafe and unprofessional manner. The Nitze also tried to communicate with the Iranians over the radio, and also changed course to avoid the boats, which ignored the warnings and came within 300 yards of the U.S. ship.
