A career soldier was detained for questioning and his personal weapon was confiscated by police, Monday, after a tour group he was with was threatened by Arab youths in the Old City of Akko. Following threats by one youth, others tried to push members of the group off a 12-meter wall.
The soldier drew his gun as a deterent and was detained following the incident. Members of the group went to the police station to testify on his behalf and file a complaint against the youths. The Honenu legal-aid organization expressed outrage at the arrest and expressed hope that the attackers would be arrested and brought to justice.
