Senior Gaza Hamas figure Mahmoud Az-Zahar said, Monday, that his organization is committed to its 2014 truce with what he called the Israeli occupation, as long as it stops what he called its aggression in Gaza, according to Kol Yisrael government radio. He said if Israeli shelling continues, Hamas's reaction will be clear.

Az-Zahar noted that Israel sent an open signal that it was not interested in an escalation of fighting. He called those who fired the rocket at Sderot Sunday "elements outside the ranks of the resistance who are trying to influence local elections."
