Chief-of-staff Gadi Eisenkot of the Israel Defense Forces called, Tuesday, for harsh fines for those who employ, lodge or transport Palestinian Authority residents without permits to be in other parts of Israel.

Addressing the Knesset State Control Commitee on the problem of the illegals, the lieutenant general said, "We're working very hard to close the crossings, but there are still about a hundred kilometers without a security fence. Two missing portions have been budgeted at 260 million shekels for the Tarkumya and Jerusalem area - and they have already begun to work there, but there are still breaches in the Beitar and Gush Etzion area."
