The Jerusalem District Rabbinical Court published a decision, Monday, in which two of the three judges sided with a man who wrote in his wedding contract that he would pay more than half a million shekels ($131,000) to his wife if they divorced, according to Channel 10 Television. The court ruled that he only had to pay NIS 120,000 (about $32,000).
The judges took the opportunity to tell prospective grooms not to write excessive amounts in the wedding contract.
