US Lt. David Nartker was handed a non-judicial punishment last week by the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, reports The New York Times, after he apologized to Iran when he and 9 other US sailors strayed into Iranian sovereign waters and were caught. His punishment is not yet known.
Nartker intends to appeal his punishment.
“Left to his own devices, [Nartker] emulated the poor leadership traits he witnessed first-hand within his own chain of command,” the Iran incident investigation report said.
