Manager Anat Gavriel of Unilever Israel told the State Control Committee on Thursday, that its Telma cereal plant has never had a salmonella infection. Speaking at a hearing about the company's recent announcement that it had destroyed suspected cartons of cereal, she said there was a human hygiene factor or an external environmental factor.
Saying, "We did not lie at any stage," Gavriel said, "if consumers cannot rely on us to sell are good and safe products, we can close the plant and go home," but said there was no way that was going to happen.
