Executive Director Itche Meir of the Samaria Municipal Environmental Association said, Tuesday, that he will ask Member of Knesset Motti Yogev to convene a meeting of the Foreign Affairs and Defense committee's subcommittee on Judea and Samaria regarding Palestinian Authority efforts to proceed with the creation of a landfill between the Rimonim Junction and the Makhukh stream. The site is in Area C, which is supposed to be under Israeli control
The request follows an incident, Tuesday morning, in which PA workers, accompanied by PA police, came to carry out work at the site, despite a PA promise not to do so before a Supreme Court ruling on a petition against the project. Local Arabs were joined by Jews in trying to stop the work, at which point, police fired shots over the heads of the demonstrators, but the work was suspended.
