Public Safety Minister Gilad Erdan has approved a 12-million-shekel program to install advanced systems for blocking cellular telephone frequencies in prison cells, according to a Monday-evening report by Channel 2 Television.
The decision followed the realization by the Prisons Service that all efforts to block the smuggling of cellphones into prisons has not succeeded. The situation has worsened and Hamas prisoners continue to use the phones to direct terror efforts.
