The Health Ministry said, Sunday evening, that a series of careless mistakes led to the recent contamination of cereal at the Telma cereal factory in Arad. In a statement following a 10-hour inspection of the plant, the ministry said the source of the contamination was not found. It allowed the contamination could have come from a sick employee or a secondary source and recommended laboratory testing of the workers.
The ministry found no evidence of malicious intent and said it did not intend to close the factory or stop cornflake production. It did say it would issue additional guidelines to prevent a recurrence of the contamination, such as daily sampling of the product until further notice.
