Ukrainian-born Israeli javelin thrower Marharyta Dorozhon will not be competing at the 2016 Olympic games, which begin, this week, in Rio de Janeiro.
Dorozhon had qualified with tosses over the qualifying distance of 60 meters, but an injury put her ability to make a respectable showing in Rio in doubt. At a trial on Sunday evening at Tel Aviv's Hadar Yoseph Athletics Stadium, the 28-year-old threw the javelin 48.03 meters on her first try and fouled on her second try, prompting her to withdraw.
