Former chairman Dani Dayan of the Yesha Council of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria will start his new task as Israel's consul in New York, beginning Sunday.
The start of Dayan's tenure in the Big Apple comes about a year after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu nominated him to be Israel's ambassador to Brazil. On a request by Israeli leftists, Brazil would not received Dayan's credentials.
