Hamas politburo leader Khaled Mashaal says the terror organization's refusal to recognize Israel is not an obstacle, according to a Tuesday-evening report by Yediot Ahronot, which cited an interview with an unnamed English-language media outlet in India.
Mashaal said history changes, noting that late Palestinian Authority and Fatah leader Yasser Arafat recognized Israel and entered a peace process with it. He spoke against the backdrop of upcoming Hamas elections. He has said he won't run again but there is speculation that he will.
