The Knesset has passed the final readings of a bill to ban publication of the name of a soldier, police officer or other member of Israeli security forces under investigation until final judgement is handed down.
The sponsor of the bill, Member of Knesset Eyal Ben-Reuven (Zionist Union), told the plenum, "It's our duty to protect our fighters on every possible front, including undue exposure, which harms soldiers and their relatives. The law is not intended to prevent investigation, questioning and punishment. On the contrary - it is intended to allow it, but in the proper framework."
