Member of Knesset Mickey Rosenthal criticized the government, Sunday, during the Knesset Economics Committee's hearing on the extension of the financially-ailing Israel Broadcasting Authority until a new public broadcasting corporation is ready to operate.

A television writer and producer himself, Rosenthal said, "It's preferable that the [new] corporation start limping than not start at all. Dozens of distinguished journalists have already been absorbed into the new corporation. The delay in its going on air will thwart their absorption and prevent the recruitment of quality people down the line. This is the exact intention of the prime minister. A quality, independent and critical body is being created in front of him and that worries him. It's very sad that the Histadrut [Labor Federation] is cooperating with this."
