MK Nachman Shai (Zionist Union) on Tuesday called to suspend the appointment of Rabbi Eyal Karim as the IDF Chief Rabbi due to his past statements.
“Apologies are not enough. Eyal Karim's statements indicate bad judgment at best and a frightening criminal interpretation of Jewish values at worst. In any event he should not be allowed to guide the IDF on an ethical and moral level,” said MK Shai.
“The appointment must be suspended immediately and be thoroughly and transparently reconsidered,” he added.
