A Jewish youth was arrested, Tuesday, when he tried to go from the Western Wall of the Temple in Jerusalem to the area of the Damascus Gate and would not heed a detective's command to return to the Western Wall Plaza. The police said they would be arrested for not following their orders if they did not return. Police said the youth and a companion were holding a march around the city gates that had not been coordinated with them.

The youth was detained for questioning when he continued on his way because the detective refused to explain why. Following questioning, the youth refused to sign a document distancing himself from the Old City, claiming there was no reason to do so since he had not broken any law. The Honenu legal-aid organization sought a court order to prevent the police from holding the youth overnight, pending a hearing on Wednesday.
