A new plan is being rolled out by Health Minister Yaakov Litzman with the hope that it will reduce wait-times in emergency rooms. Israeli hospitals are severely understaffed, relative to the number of people whom arrive in the emergency rooms daily, which causes unreasonable wait times for emergency care.

Litzman's proposal will allow Hatzalah volunteers, certified EMTs and paramedics, to assist doctors and nurses in emergency rooms all over the country.
