The Belgian Jewish monthly Joods Actueel has published an open letter, in which editor Michael Freilich calls on German Chancellor Angela Merkel to condemn Chairman Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority for his June 22nd speech before the European parliament, in which he said rabbis told the Israeli government to poison water to kill PA residents.

In the letter, Freilich criticized European Parliament President Martin Schulz and Katarina von Schnurbein, who coordinates European Union efforts against anti-Semitism - both Germans - for not saying anything to Abbas during the speech or at any other time. Schulz even called the speech inspiring.

Merkel's office acknowledged receipt of the letter but declined to respond.
