The Hotem (Seal) organization, which works to strengthen the Jewish identity of Israel, has expressed opposition to a bill by Member of Knesset Ofer Shelah (Yesh Atid) that would amend the law on terminally-ill patients to allow doctors to prescribe suicide drugs for such patients. The bill was on the Sunday agenda of the Ministerial Committee on Legislation.
The organization said, "We cannot create new life (except through the use of existing cells). Therefore, we have no permission to take a life either."
