House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan wrote to US Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, suggesting that Hillary Clinton should not be allowed access to classified briefings, as a sanction for her botched handling of classified emails while Secretary of State.
Presidential candidates normally get access to classified information once they are formally nominated. A Clinton spokesman said Republicans' efforts to deny her the briefings was "another blatantly political stunt" by Republicans.
