The Women of the Wall organization held its regular worship service at the Western Wall, Thursday morning, to mark Rosh Chodesh, the start of the new Jewish month of Tammuz. Their use of men's prayer garb and reading from a Torah scroll goes against customary conduct there, and Israel Defense Forces Radio reports they smuggled a scroll into the area, as they have had to do in the past.
Earlier in the week, they announced that today's service would be in memory of Hallel Yaffa Ariel, the 13-year-old girl from Kiryat Arba', who was murdered by a terrorist in her bedroom a week ago.
