Chairman Moshe Gafni of the Knesset Finance Committee has given representatives of the Tax Authority two weeks to let the committee know if the authority is ready to advance reform in the taxation of lightweight motorcyles and scooters. Gafni told a committee hearing that if the authority says "no", the committee will advance legislation on the matter.

Gafni said the whole committee believes it is proper to reduce sales taxes on the vehicles, given congestion and pollution in urban centers.
