Chairman Avi Dichter of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee said, Tuesday, "Israel must broadcast to the Palestinians, the Arab world and the whole world one fact which is clear from our standpoint: There must be a price for the fact that the Palestinians have been putting off entering the process of diplomatic talks for the last 23 years. Jerusalem won't return to 1967 lines. Period."

Responding to this week's announcement of the construction of hundreds of new dwellings for Jews and Arabs in Jerusalem and nearby Ma'aleh Adumim, the former public security minister said, "We musn't think in terms of 'we won't return to the '67 lines but we'll wait to build beyond the '67 lines until there is a diplomatic process." He also said, "It's also impossible to think in terms of a building freeze. It won't work."
