UK Labour Party chief and Leader of the Opposition Jeremy Corbyn has lost a no-confidence vote held by party MPs, hurling the Labour leadership into a new crisis.

Corbyn lost the vote by a wide margin: 172 MPs voted to fire him as leader, while only 40 backed him. Four others reportedly abstained.

A number of candidates are already reportedly mulling running against him in new party leadership elections, mere months after Corbyn was initially voted to head the party.
