Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat responds to the decision to close the Temple Mount to Jews and visitors: "You have to let the police do its job, and to keep maintaining the status quo on the Temple Mount. You can't make [good] decisions under the pressure of the threat of violence. Only careful and coordinated action in maintaining the status quo will ensure a continual reduction of violence."
ראש העיר ירושלים ניר ברקת הגיב על ההחלטה לסגור את הר הבית ליהודים ומבקרים בעקבות ההתפרעויות בימים האחרונים.
"יש לאפשר למשטרת ישראל לעשות את עבודתה ולהמשיך בשמירה על הסטטוס קוו בהר הבית. אסור לקבל החלטות תחת לחץ של התפרעויות אלימות. רק התנהלות עקבית ונחושה בשמירה על הסטטוס קוו תבטיח לאורך זמן ירידה באירועי אלימות ושקט בירושלים".
