Nigel Farage, head of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) said on Thursday night that it "looks like Remain will edge it" as polls closed in the referendum on whether Britain will leave the EU or remain in it.
Speaking to Sky News, the UKIP leader said it had been an "extraordinary" campaign and it looked like turnout had been "exceptionally high".
