Transport Minister Yisrael Katz responded on Thursday morning at a conference in Herzliya to the matter he described as “A vision that can become reality;” the establishment of sea and airports for residents of the Gaza Strip.

“I am talking about an island off of Gaza. On this island there would be a sea port… and in the future an airport as well. I do not believe in not building an airport in Gaza; there is no logic in holding Gaza citizens (captive),” he said.

Katz emphasized that “Gazans cannot dig tunnels and the island could be under international status until a permanent agreement is reached.”
