A Johannesburg court has permitted former gold miners to file a class action suit against mining companies, the BBC reports. The workers say that their job caused them to develop silicosis, an incurable disease of the lungs.
This is expected to be the largest class action suit South Africa has ever seen.
In the ruling, the judge declared that suing is "the only realistic option."
