Avra Mangisto's family is pressuring mayors around the country to mention Mangisto during their speeches over Independence Day, Ynet reports.
Mangisto has been held by Hamas in Gaza since 2014. The family statement notes that they "wish to mention him at the beginning of the ceremonies and note the number of days he has been imprisoned—666 days."
Mangisto's family insists that Israel has largely abandoned Avra because he is Ethiopian and not Ashkenazi.
