Minister of Internal Security Gilad Erdan responded on Wednesday morning to the decision to return the body of the terrorist responsible for the car terror attack in Samaria to his family.

“I can only speak of the Police Department’s policies regarding this mater. They have never changed. I thought at first that it would be the right thing to reopen the cemetery for fallen enemies. The Defense Ministry disagreed. Once there is no possibility to hold onto the bodies forever, or until the end of the terror wave, we assume the policy that a terrorist’s body is returned only to families who are prepared to abide by the Police Department’s demands. Namely, a small funeral during the late hours of the night, in exchange for a bond,” Erdan made clear to the government.

According to Erdan, “The differences of opinions between the IDF and the police regarding this matter are known to all.”
