The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees says that a shipwreck in the Mediterranean Sea last week may have left up to 500 people dead.
Forty-one people were rescued and taken to Greece. The survivors include 23 people from Somalia, 11 from Ethiopia, six from Egypt and one from Sudan.
The incident occurred between Libya and Italy. Thousands of migrants have tried to flee Libya by boat over the past few years, many aboard extremely dangerous boats.
