MK Avigdor Liberman spoke on Wednesday morning at a conference on the “terror tunnel threat” in Sderot.

“We have recently heard countless reports that Hamas is not interested in any escalations, at the same time as we heard declarations that the conflict between Israel and Hamas is unpreventable.”

“Therefore, I ask whether the State of Israel must patiently wait for Hamas to finish staffing its forces, will restore and double its rocket supply in comparison to Operation Protective Edge, will arm itself with planes, and choose the time most convenient for it to launch the next attack. Namely, Hamas is the initiator. Hamas dictates the rules of the game and we are the passive side that observes and is on the defensive. This is a fundamentally wrong policy that endangers the citizens of the south first, and the rest of Israel’s citizens second.”
