Mahir Boztepe, the editor in chief of the Russian news site Sputnik's Turkish branch, says that authorities in Istanbul have blocked access to his site.
"Access blockage to Sputnik from TİB. No justification, many pretexts," he Tweeted, adding the note: "Do not fear, these days shall pass." TIB stands for the Presidency of Telecommunication and Communication, the governmental authority that oversees internet access.

The site's editor claims that the block is a form of censorship and began only a few hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized "some political leaders" in Turkey.
