Interior Minister Aryeh Deri informed the High Court on Thursday that Israel would grant blue identity cards to about 2,000 Arabs, Channel 10 reported.
The Family Unification Law, enacted in 2003, rejects the granting of Israeli citizenship to Arabs in Judea and Samaria whose spouses are Israeli citizens. In light of this law, thousands of Arabs live in Israel without any status and social benefits, with the exception of a residence permit.
