The IDF chief prosecutor has decided to close the investigation into Colonel Israel Shomer, the head of the Binyamin Brigade.

On July 3, 2015, a Palestinian from Qalandiya threw a rock at Colonel Shomer's vehicle, breaking the windshield. Shomer reacted by leaving the vehicle and performing the standard detention procedure, including shooting towards the attacker's legs.

The investigation found that Shomer acted while moving and not from a static position. Because of this, his aim was not precise and he ended up killing the Palestinian.

The prosecutor found that Colonel Shomer's decision to perform the detention procedure was justified and reasonable.
