More than 180,000 people requested asylum status in Germany between January and March 2016, according to the Interior Ministry. This is a drop of about 66% from the same period last year.
"In December 2015, it was 120,000 people, in January 90,000, in February 60,000 and in March 20,000," said Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere.
