Alaska Air Group is working on a deal to purchase Virgin America for over $2 billion, Reuters reports.
Virgin America is the ninth-largest US airline, while Alaska Air is currently worth $10.2 billion. The previous high bidder for the company was JetBlue.
Should the deal go through, it would be the first merger for US commercial airlines since US Airways and American Airlines joined in 2013.
