Former Yesha Council head Dani Dayan has been formally appointed as Israel's Consul General in New York, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu - who also serves as Foreign Minister - announced Monday morning.
The surprise announcement comes after months of deadlock with Brazil, which had refused to accept Dayan's appointment as its ambassador from Israel.
