Chilean authorities say that the country has recorded its first case of someone contracting the Zika virus through sexual contact, Reuters reports.
The patient in question is 46 years old. Her partner caught the virus in Haita.
Zika is believed to be related to thousands of birth defects in Brazil, on the other side of South America. Only 10 cases of Zika have been registered in Chile, which does not host the mosquitoes which transmit it.
