Israeli police said Tuesday that they had arrested 1,200 illegal Arab infiltrators, under a crackdown aimed at helping to quell a five-month wave of violence, AFP reports.
The unauthorized workers were detained along with 150 employers over the past two weeks, a police statement said.
On March 14 the Knesset approved a tough new law to keep out Palestinian infiltrators, as part of measures aimed at tackling a surge in attacks against Israelis.
