MK Ayelet Nahmias-Verbin (Zionist Union) expressed opposition on Sunday morning to the potential pardoning of former President Moshe Katzav, who is currently serving time following a rape conviction.
“Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked is foiling the work of the Parole Board by leaking to the media that she intends to overturn their decision if the board decides to dent rapist Moshe Katzav’s early release. Katzav should be treated the same as any other criminal, and it’s a shame that Minister Shaked is turning his early release into a political issue.”
Accoding to the MK, “The Justice Minister is giving a contradictory message to the victims…She must not judge sex crimes according to the criminal, but rather according to the severity of the act.”
