The Knesset approved an initial vote of a proposed bill that seeks to determine that people who donate food to organizations in charge of distributing the food to those in need will not be responsible for harm caused to recipients by the food products.
MK Uri Maklev said that “This law will revolutionize the current reality of food being thrown out at hotels, restaurants, event halls, catering services, and more. Food will be given to thousands of people in need on a daily basis. We’re not talking about leftovers, but rather food that never left the kitchen and is still in trays, hundreds of kilograms of fresh and healthy meat.”
