A body was discovered inside of a Chinese elevator that had been turned off for a month, BBC reports.

On January 30, two maintenance workers turned off the elevator without checking to ensure that it was empty. They only returned to restart it last week, at which point they found the woman's body. Local reports tell of scratch marks inside of the elevator.

The victim is believed to have been 43 years old and living by herself in the building.

Police say that they are looking into charges of involuntary manslaughter and have already arrested several suspects.
