The US government is planning to bring together official from all levels in order to put together a plan to fight the mosquitoes that carry the Zika virus, Reuters reports.
The meeting will take place at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's headquarters in Atlanta, on April 1.
Officials expect that the virus will hit the continental US by June or July, and hope to have a response ready by then.
"The best-case scenario here is that we could either limit local transmission, or get ahead of it and contain it as soon as possible," said Deputy Assistant for Homeland Security Amy Pope.
