A number of Iranian migrants in the French city of Calais sewed their mouths closed in order to protest against the destruction of their makeshift camp.
AFP reports that at least nine people took part in the gruesome act, hoping to stop the French government from destroying the 'Jungle' migrant camp.
The Calais town hall released a statement noting that the demonstration arouses "deep emotion. But at the same time, nothing justifies such extremes when the state has done everything to take the migrants out of these undignified conditions."
Most of the Jungle's residents have not registered with authorities because they hope to reach the UK and claim asylum there.
